I heard that some farmer’s pig from America were infected, and I guess the pigs were sold to someone in Mexico, or they some how ended up in Mexico. I don’t know the specifics. I wouldn’t be surprised if this was true. Or if it being created in a lab is true.

Saturn Ion questions: Is the following true?
1-the cruise control computer doesn’t work?
I heard that this is a re-curring prob (on 2004, 2005, & 2006 models)
2-probs after 10,000 miles?
I heard from a user that he didn’t have any probs until he hit 10,000 miles. Then, he had a lot of probs. No one else mentioned this, so it could just be this one car/person.
3-Blows in wind?**
I’m thinking about buying an ION (automatic sedan), & I’d like ANY input/feedback from anyone who’s had one in the past. Thanks.
**My main question is whether it blows around on highways/bridges on super-windy days?**
Other questions:
I heard there’s no steering box, so it doesn’t need steering fluid? How does the power steering work? Is it hard to steer?
Is it true that there’s no space in the door compartment?
That the visor is so small it doesn’t block the sun at all?
How is the pick-up (on regular automatic sedan, not the red line one)?
I have a 2005 Ion that just hit 10,000 miles. I haven’t had any issues with cruise control, though it’s the first thing to go in a lot of cars.
I can say that the Ion definitely blows in the wind at high speeds. It’s ok if you keep it at normal speeds (up to 65 or 70), but if you like to break 80mph, the Ion will drive you nuts with how wobbly it gets in the wind. It’s not terrible… like, I’ve never even come close to losing control, but you can feel it and it definitely keeps you awake. I’m fine with it because, on the bright side, I haven’t had any speeding tickets since I got this car. 
I don’t know about the steering box question, but the steering is fine. I don’t think the door compartment is that bad, but it is a semi-compact after all. The visor works fine… I mean, maybe someone’s used to driving a Cadillac with a gigantic visor so the Ion’s seems small? Not sure…
And I think the pickup is pretty good. The engine’s not a powerhouse, but it’s a light car, so you can get it to take off pretty good, though sometimes the car doesn’t sound too happy about it, especially in the winter. Definitely not intended to be a muscle car, but if I need to take off fast on a green light to get ahead and do a lane change or something, it does the job.
Oh, and I should add that my girlfriend also has a 2005 Ion. Hers is at 20,000, and she hasn’t had any problems with it, and her cruise control works. I drive her car a lot, and I can say that there isn’t any difference between hers (20,000mi) and mine (10,000mi). Perhaps your friend with the car issues may have been rough on it or didn’t keep up on the preventive maintenance. It’s definitely not a car for someone who wants a machine they can manhandle… but if you’re a relatively-sedate suburban motorist, I think it’s a good car.
Bottom line is, neither of us regret getting our Ions. We both wanted new cars that were nice-looking, light on gas, and affordable, and I think the Ion fits the bill just fine.

Why is the Mexican news media happily reporting that the US has more swine flu cases than Mexico?
The Mexican media is gleefully pointing out that the number of cases in the US leads the world.
However, the media down here has its interpretation all wrong.
First of all, the USA has 300+ million people, nearly triple the population of Mexico. Yet, the USA doesn’t even have double the cases of Mexico (2532 to Mexico’s 1648).
Second, three people have died from the flu in the USA (0.001%).
In Mexico, 48 people have died (0.029%).
So, in reality, the swine flu in Mexico is still worse than in the USA. And it will continue to be that way while Mexico remains a developing nation.
Saaski, you are totally right. Hondurans, Guatemalans, and Salvadorans get BEAT DOWN on Mexico’s southern border.
However, that actually helps the USA in the long run, because Mexico keeps a lot of MS-13 gangsters out of our great nation.

I got my percentages based on the number of deaths from the number of reported cases, not total population.

About your numbers, let’s say the U.S. is at 300 million and 0.001% died would not that be about 3,000? Isn’t the U.S. death percentage more like .000001% of 300,000,000 = 3?
For Mexico (Population: 109,955,400 (July 2008 est.) let’s say rounded to 110 million, if .029% died of 110,000,000 = 31,900 deaths.
I would have to use the percentage of .0015% deaths of a population of 110,000,000 to get 1,650 deaths.
All that said maybe you have a link to this “Mexican news media happily reporting” or can you do math better then what I figured.
