I live in Montana. I am in high school and a friend of mine just got back from Texas and she now has the swine flu. I am a teen mom. I am really scared that my daughter will get it through me and she is only 16 months old. So my question is is the swine flu as dangerous as the news makes it out to be? Is anyone else in ”panic” mode because of this flu? or am I the only one? What are the earliest symptoms I would notice if she gets it?
If you haven’t been in contact with the friend, great. If you have been, don’t be in contact with him/her for the near future.
Based on what people are saying, there’s no real need to panic. Still, if a baby/toddler gets any flu it can always be dangerous. Based on recent news it appears to be a milder form of illness than was thought. Still, babies are always at higher risk if they get a respiratory infection.
The most recent word is that schools are not closing, but people are telling anyone with flu symptoms not to go to school.
Any symptoms of being sick (fever, cold symptoms) should be checked out by a doctor.
Now, more than ever, it’s a good idea to wash hands thoroughly and frequently, and to thoroughly clean surfaces. If you aren’t infected, and if she isn’t near the friend, she won’t get it (unless it were to show up somewhere like the infant seat in a shopping cart - which may be reason not to put her in one of those in the near future),
Listen to your area news, and if you have questions ask your baby’s pediatrician (even if your baby is not sick and you just want to know more about what you should be doing).
Going to London, am I going to bring the swine flu back to my toddler and husband?
The swine flu is very spread in London. 20 ppl have died there already. I’m going there tomorrow for three days. I’m not worried about myself, but I’m very worried about bringing it to my 2 year old boy.
How long does it take for the symptoms to show? So if I get it on the last day of my stay, will my child get it without me knowing about it?
the symptoms will show straight away if you have swine flu you will start will sneezing and your joints will start hurting and you will get a temperature straightt away you will also get:

•tiredness,
•chills,
•aching muscles,
•limb or joint pain,
•diarrhoea or stomach upset,
•sore throat,
•runny nose,
•sneezing, and
•loss of appetite.
My baby sister is 4 years old. She began to vomit early this morning and continued throughout the day until now. I’m worried because everytime she eats something, even if it is water, she would soon vomit. She also has a small amount of diarrhea. I recently went to the clinic and the doctor suggested she may have caught the stomach flu.. But now she continues to vomit and I’m worried with her having nothing in her stomach for a whole day. I want to give her some Gravol, which indicates that children 6-12 years old should take 1/2-1 tablet. So I was wondering if I broke the tablet into 1/4 will it still have any affect? Is it best not to give her Gravol Adult tablets? Otherwise, does anyone have any suggestions as to what to do to ease the vomitting? Thanks!

I’ve been getting sicker over the past few days, and with the global outbreak of the swine flu, I decided to get checked out and the doctor is pretty sure I have it. I live in a smaller town in Nova Scotia, Canada (some of the first Canadian cases of swine flu were reported less than 100km from here in Windsor, NS), so he doesn’t have the technology to be 100% sure.
I’ve been to all kinds of crowded places, such as my school, the mall, and a nursing home… Today alone a person from the nursing home died and a toddler died from the flu and I really think I was responsible for it.
