Just as clear communication between you and your doctor can equal better care for your body, communicating carefully with your mechanic means the best care for your body of your car.
When you think about it, you really know your car better than anyone else. You drive it every day and know how it feels and sounds when everything is right. So do not ignore its warning signals. If something does not feel quite right, be sure to get your car checked out.
The following tips should help you along the way including preventative medicine. Always try to follow the recommended service schedules. Keep a log of all repairs and service.
And check your car for unusual sounds, odors, drips, leaks, smoke, warning lights, changes in acceleration, changes in engine performance, changes in gas mileage, changes in fluid levels, worn tires, belts, hoses, difficulty in handling, braking, steering, and also unusual vibrations can be a cause for alarm.
When there is a problem try to get it looked at as immediately as possible.Write the information or symptoms down to give to your repairman. When did the problem first start?
Exactly when does the problem occur? Is it constant or does it occur now and again? Does the problem happen when the vehicle is cold or after the engine has warmed up? Is the problem noticeable when you accelerate? When you brake? At all speeds? When shifting?
Remember to let the technician diagnose and recommend a remedy, even if you think you already know what the problem is. Plus, it is important not to demand an on the spot diagnosis. The technician needs to thoroughly examine the vehicle before knowing what is really going on.
Always stay involved and try to have good communication with your mechanic. And do not be shy about asking as many questions as you need to understand the problem. Mechanical terminology can be confusing to the layperson. Ask for simple definitions of technical terms you are not familiar with.
It is hard to be patient, as most of us feel completely incapacitated without our vehicles. Make sure you ask to be called and informed of the problem, recommended action, and costs before work begins.
Before you leave, ask about labor rates, guarantees, and what methods of payment are acceptable.
Leave a telephone number where you can be reached.
The information you share with your auto technician will enable him to more easily locate the problem, diagnose it, and repair any damage. Then you and your car will be on the road again.

Mri- An Advanced Imaging Technology Used For Cancer Treatment
Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), or nuclear magnetic resonance imaging (NMRI) refers to a sophisticated medical technique used in radiology. This medical imaging technique is commonly used to visualize internal structure and functions of the body organs. The images captured by MRI technique give detail information to assess the functions inside the body. These images provide greater contrast between the different soft tissues of the body than other scanning technologies like computed tomography (CT) and X-rays.
The magnetic resonance imaging scan is a non-invasive method that uses magnets and radio waves to give deep look inside the human body. It is widely used in the neurological treatment, musculoskeletal, cardiovascular, and oncological imaging. MRI does not use ionizing radiation like CT, but it uses powerful magnetic field to align the nuclear magnetization of hydrogen atoms in water that is present in the body. The MRI images can be reviewed on a large computer screen to identify the exact problem. Here radio frequency field is used to systematically alter the alignment of this magnetization, causing the hydrogen nuclei to produce a rotating magnetic field detectable by the scanner. A radiofrequency electromagnetic field makes the protons change their alignment relative to the field. As soon as the electromagnetic field is turned off, the released protons return to their original alignment.
There are some specialized MRI scans, such as Diffusion MRI, Magnetic transfer MRI, Fluid attenuated inversion recovery (FLAIR), Magnetic resonance angiography, Functional MRI, Interventional MRI, Radiation therapy simulation, Multinuclear imaging, Susceptibility weighted imaging, etc. This technique uses some specified components like MRI machine that is embedded with the primary magnets and gradient magnets. The primary magnets develop a magnetic field of around 1.5 to 3 Tesla. The gradient magnets help in altering the magnetic field precisely. MRI scanner also includes horizontal tube. There are specialized computer hardware and software components to set the parameters prior to the examination.
In comparison to the other imaging techniques, the MRI scan is little expansive. It is performed to detect cancers in the organs of the chest and abdomen. It is used to evaluate the problems in heart, liver, biliary tract, kidney, pancreas, spleen, breast cancer implants and adrenal glands. Physicians use MRI to help diagnose or monitor some treatment conditions.

What happens physiologically in a case of bad dehydration during hike in hot dry desert?
Indicate the change (increase, decrease, or same) to an acute case of dehydration during a hike in the hot dry desert. Assume no salt or fluid replacement.
____ plasma proteins
____ plasma [Na+]
____ hematocrit
____ intracellular fluid volume
____ extracellular fluid volume
My guess is that hematocrit would decrease (though found some sources say increase). I guess both intra and extra-cellular fluid volume would decrease, makes sense, dehydration in desert. But what happens to plasma proteins and plasma [Na+]? I’m guessing increase, since relative to the decrease in pure fluid.
It sounds like you are on the right track, but be careful!
Think about the tonicity of the respective areas these are found in, and where the water is located. Blood plasma is about 90% water, so in dehydration, blood plasma is drastically reduced. This creates hypertonicity in the blood. Think about what hematocrit is; it’s the percentage of red blood cells out of the total blood volume. The total blood volume goes down, but the number of RBCs stays the same. Would that increase or decrease the %? That should answer the first three problems.
For the last too, think about the tonic imbalance between the blood, the extracellular fluid, and the intracellular fluid. You have hypertonic blood vs. hypotonicity in the latter two. Which way is the water going to travel?
If that didn’t solve it for you, e-mail me.

From a technical point of view, throttle response can be measured by how fast your engine can build vacuum in its intake manifold, via throttle pressure. The faster and higher peak vacuum is reached in the intake manifold, the higher the pressure differential will be between outside air, and your engine. This pressure differential forces the air to flow from the area of high pressure (outside air) to the area of low pressure (the engine and cylinders), and the higher the pressure difference, the greater the pressure force, and the faster the air flow into the engine.
This is essentially how throttle response works. To improve throttle response several engine alterations can be used to achieve a higher peak vacuum in the engine or a faster change in vacuum per throttle input… some of these include:
1- Using undersized intake pipes and intake plenum runners to increase the airflow velocity in the intake system, making the engine able to suck all the air out of it faster and create vacuum sooner.
2- Adjusting intake cam timing to open the intake valve as peak vacuum is created inside the cylinder near bottom dead center.
3- Reducing the overall intake system volume, by using smaller manifolds, less vacuum lines, and more electrically operated (rather than vacuum operated) engine auxiliaries which means the engine has less air volume to clear from the intake system to create a vacuum in the manifold to force new air in.
4- Using cam separation and cam overlap (when both intake and exhaust valves are open at the same time) to have the previous cycle’s exhaust gasses help pull in fresh intake gasses for the beginning of this combustion cycle.
One interesting application of this concept is the G-Power supercharger kit for the BMW M3. The ASA supercharger powered kit focuses on response and efficiency rather than on astonishing peak power figures. The G-Power kit utilizes a very conservative boost supercharger by ASA giving a peak of only 4.4 psi of boost. Since the engine already very highly powered at 420hp, the addition of just 4.4psi of boost results in well over 500hp (as a conservative estimate) and as much as 560hp as a result of this combination.
The focus of the G-Power kit is not just power figures, as rather than just providing a supercharger kit for the M3, G-Power has designed a completely new intake manifold for the M3. The manifold although has higher volume than the original M3 manifold (for more peak power as this is now a supercharged car), does have a narrow profile that promotes high air velocities to improve throttle response. Furthermore, the new manifold has integrated individual runners for each cylinders complete with trumpet style inlets raised from the floor of the plenum, which has been proven through fluid flow simulation to reduce boundary pressure differentials, reduce the pressure drop inside the intake manifold, and promote higher air velocities that lend themselves to higher peak vacuums and faster vacuum buildup inside the manifold.
Even though centrifugal superchargers typically show a linear boost curve with engine rpm, and thus produce little to now power gain in lower rpms, the combination of this supercharger with the redesigned intake manifold and new tune reportedly provides over 20% increase in torque at ALL engine rpms, and with increased response.
Here it is in G-Power’s own words:
Air duct: Sport air filter system, CAD-FEM flow optimized boost recooling system consisting of an air duct made from aluminum cast, high capacity air-to-air intercooler made from aluminum cast in the car’s front and a large volume air box made from aluminum cast, including 8 integral resonance induction pipes made from light polyamide, ensuring an optimal throttle response and a perfect torque curve; pneumatic controlled, engine load related boost control; boost level approx. 4 psi rel.
The G-Power kit comes in 3 power ranges corresponding to 4, 6 and 7psi of boost. The 7psi kit with their full titanium exhaust is capable of peaking out over 580 hp with great response to match. Last but not least, the new G-Powered M3 is capable of doing a 0-124 mph 2 seconds faster than a factory M3, which at those speeds is about 20 car lengths of distance between the two cars. Moreover the G-Power with its unlimited speedometer will keep pulling all the way up to 223mph!

i’m tryin to add transmission fluid to my 92 civic it has a 98 honda CR-V engine with a GSR tranny i’m pretty sure theres hardly any transmission fluid left because shifting gears has become rough.. i use to do it on my jetta but on the GSR tranny i cant find the hole to fill it up with fluid.
anybody no where the hole to fill it up with fluid is located?
thanks amillion
Some vehicles you actually remove the shifter to add tranny oil. I don’t know about yours but it’s worth a shot. Good luck.

Please help me, I got a question about hydraulic resistance!!?
There’re 2 equations.
A: P1-P2 = (128*dynamic viscosity* pipe length / pi * diameter power 4) * flow rate
B: P1-P2 = Reynolds number * density of fluid * flow rate *
|flow rate| / (2 * area square)
Who knows the difference between A and B?
I used B and got a Time variable, rest are constant in B, ’cause I want to have a dynamic eqution.
However, I have no idea about the distinction about A and B and I just would like to calculate the flow rate in a pipe with hydraulic resistance and because I got a acceleration dx/dt from the piston, I’d like to use dx/dt to obtain the flow rate in the pipe, but I don’t know in which equation I could put dx/dt. Someone could tell me the difference between A and B and which one I could use and why and have something else or you could show some paper to explain it!
Please help me!!!
It’s a long time since I did this stuff, but . . .
Equation A is okay for streamlined flow in a smooth pipe only.
In equation B, the Reynolds number is a function of viscosity, fluid velocity, pipe diameter, pipe wall roughness and maybe other things. Equation A is probably the limiting case when the Reynolds number is small enough. You would need equation B for turbulent flow.
