Welcome everyone, today I would like to inform you about a certain group of people are being discriminated against in the USA. Hispanics and Latinos are experiencing racial discrimination. They are experiencing discrimination in the work force, immigration and also by individuals. Especially now because of the swine flu.
The United States of America was brought up on fundamental values in which that all men are created equal. Today, in the year of 2009, we still have discrimination happening. In the great words of Martin Porter, “All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing.”
Hispanics and Latinos are experiencing much racial discrimination throughout the United States. They are being discriminated in the work force, in public places, and by the past epidemic that has recently happened. The Swine Ful (H1N1 Virus).

For a particular population group it is estimated that the prevalence of swine flu is 13.3%. A new diagnostic procedure for this disease has a sensitivity of 0.872, correctly diagnosing an individual with swine flu 87.2% of the time. The specificity of the procedure is 0.983, so that an individual without the disease is correctly diagnosed 98.3% of the time.
Suppose the diagnostic procedure indicates an individual from this population group has the disease. The probability that they actually do have swine flu is:

U have asked “buying flu vaccine from so many others” - one company will not be able to supply so many vaccines. There must be a competition among the Parma companies that which vaccine is the best and least side effects. The biggest makers of seasonal flu vaccines in the U.S. are running into delays or cutting back shipments — partly because of the crunch to produce millions of doses of the new swine flu vaccine.
Drugmaker Sanofi Pasteur said it has shipped more than half of the 50.5 million doses of seasonal flu vaccine ordered and it could be November before some U.S. customers get the rest of their shipments.
Novartis AG and GlaxoSmithKline PLC said their shipments are on schedule. But they’ve told customers they may get about 10 percent less than ordered.
The companies account for about 100 million of the nation’s expected 114 million doses.
The delay and cutbacks have already forced some doctor’s offices to turn away patients and others to cancel clinics around the country.
The U.K. has ordered 132 million doses of swine flu vaccine from London-based GlaxoSmithKline Plc and Baxter International Inc., based in Deerfield, Illinois. European regulators approved Glaxo’s Pandemrix vaccine on Sept. 29 and the company said it plans to begin shipping the vaccine to European governments next week.
Baxter’s vaccine hasn’t been approved yet and the European Medicines Agency has asked the company for additional information, Director of Immunization David Salisbury said.
The government has ordered 250 million doses of the new vaccine from the same five companies that make the seasonal shots and nasal spray. (Ten percent of the swine flu doses have been promised to other countries.)
The Swiftwater, Pa.-based Sanofi Pasteur, which makes about 45 percent of the country’s seasonal vaccine, normally finishes winter flu vaccines by the beginning to middle of October, company spokeswoman Donna Cary said. It expects to run several weeks later this year, she said.
Novartis, based in Basel, Switzerland, halted its production of the seasonal flu vaccine in July to meet demand for the swine flu version, said company spokesman Eric Althoff. It didn’t end up with as much virus stock as expected, so customers will receive a little less than ordered, he said.

Travel Advisory Update On The Flu In Mexico
After all the massive publicity of the Swine Flu, and the closing of all businesses and schools in Mexico, finally things are looking up. Now that more information is present for analysis, other countries as well as United States are realizing how the cases of “Swine Flu” were not, and I repeat, WERE NOT linked with travel to Mexico.
All businesses are open in Puerto Vallarta and tourists are taking advantage and are enjoying at this beautiful haven in Mexico. The Travel Warning that was launched by Centers For Disease Control (CDC) in opposition to “non-essential travel” into Mexico, which has been in effect since 27th April 2009 has finally been lifted and now only a “Travel Health Precaution” is there for travel to Mexico. Canada had previously launched a Travel Advisory for Mexico which was officially lifted on 18th May. This “non-essential travel” warning was put on Mexico due to the excessive media hype that was created about the Flu.
Press conferences were also held where the Canadian Chief Public Health Officer Dr. David Butler-Jones stressed on the fact that the “outbreak in Mexico” now seems to be settling down. He also explained that it did not seem logical to put a travel warning to a country where the spread of the virus was similar to that of Canada; which is minimal.
Since the lifting of this travel advisory, the PHAC will cease to provide notices of health alert to the air travelers that are leaving for Mexico. Also, quarantine officers which were previously placed on almost every direct flight coming to Canada from Mexico, will be removed. Nonetheless, the “Canadian Border Services Agency” will continue keeping a check on all of the air passengers who show signs of being under the influence of the swine flu.
Majority of the Canadian Air Carriers have not formally broadcasted the outcome of the travel ban which was placed on Mexico. However, WestJet has announced that it will continue its “no flight policy” to Mexico till June 20th. But what is great is that Air Canada will definitely make a few trips to Puerto Vallarta in May. Pregnant women, would you have the swine flu vaccine?
I am pregnant and I have decided that I would refuse to be vaccinated against swine flu, as I am not sure there is any evidence that the vaccine is harmless to the foetus. As I am lucky to be healthy, I would rather catch the flu than risking to harm my baby. What is your view on the subject?
I wouldnt get the vaccination because its just too quick to be marketed I dont think enough time has been given to view any side any effects to mother and baby, also I think in most cases catching swine flu would not cause much harm to mother and baby anyway - I am of the same view as you and Im a midwife! Pregnant women are discouraged from having the regular flu vaccination when they are pregnant so what makes the swine flu vaccination any different?
