Decorating Your Home With Feng Shui

Feng Shui is the practice of bringing good fortune by achieving balance between various elements. In the US, more people are beginning to consult Feng Shui experts in decorating their homes. For you to understand what they say, you need to learn the basic Feng Shui areas that need your attention so you will be able to decorate it properly.

The first step is to draw a layout of your home. When you are doing it, you are noting down the north points in the house.

Then it is time to work on the door. Ideally, the front and back door must never line up with each other. This is because according to the principles of Feng Shui, energy that enters the house will just go out without bringing any benefits to the homeowner. If this is the case in your home, put a plant or any other obstruction with an angled throw rug to encourage a path in a sideways direction.

To bring more energy in the home, bring in some light. This doesn’t mean turning the lights on but simply opening up the curtains so the sun can come in. You should also add green plants since in Feng Shui, the color itself brings joy and happiness. Other decorative items you can use include mirrors, wind chimes and brighter colors.

You can also bring good fortune to the home by putting in an indoor water fountain. This is because water refreshes Chi. At the same time, you can throw in some goldfish as this also encourages wealth. Just make sure to keep the pond clean and never let it stagnate.

Red is a very strong color in Feng Shui because it is hot, passionate, rich and celebratory. You must use this color for a living room set because too much of it may bring restlessness, a burst of anger and over stimulation. If you want to use it, use it only for details and accessories.

When you note down the north point of the home, it will be easy for you to work in other areas such as the southwest area of the house. This area is vital because it will allow you to have satisfying relationships. You can do this by eliminating clutter and replacing it with symbolic items ideally in pairs. Some good examples are candles and other figurines. Never make the mistake of putting wooden or green items here.

As for your dining room, the best ones to get are circles as this symbolizes heavenly blessings. The chairs should be even in number and comfortable to sit in. The dÃcor should be simple so people will not get distracted and be more focused on having a good meal.

Watch out for exposed beams. If there are, these should be covered up because it creates an oppressive downward energetic flow that may cause health problems and other misfortunes in your life. The other option is to have two Feng Shui flutes installed at 45 degree angles on the beam, one at each end.

As for the bedroom, make sure that the bed is not directly facing the door. You shouldn’t also place a mirror on the opposite side of the bed as this could attract a third party into your relationship.

Peace and prosperity can only be achieved by decorating your home with Feng Shui. You can start now with some of the basics then get help if you think you need it.

Swine Flu FAQ

We’ve been told how quickly it can be upon us and to be prepared well in advance for just such an occurrence.  There are no social systems in place robust enough to deliver all the care that will be required when a pandemic influenza develops; and when push comes to shove we all will want to be as self-reliant and independent as possible.

Even so, watching the progress of the medical news story coming out of Mexico about the recent swine flu outbreak, it has been astonishing how quickly the infection has spread.  It may have been difficult to imagine, before this weekend, how it could be so.  But to see the news early last Friday of a swine flu outbreak in Mexico, and that outbreaks were soon occurring in Texas, California and New York within hours of the first news was truly sobering.  And we now have 6 confirmed cases in Canada; in Nova Scotia, and in B.C.

The following web site will be helpful in tracking the flu’s progress.  Fortunately, whether a pandemic results from a bird flu virus, or from a swine flu virus, the preparations to protect yourself, your family, and your business are the same.  http://hisz.rsoe.hu/alertmap/

We include some answers to frequently asked questions to refresh you for what may or may not result in a pandemic.  Whether this circumstance does become pandemic, or another virus does, officials are watching carefully and using all the precautions they have put in place.

What is swine flu?
It is a form of virus that normally infects pigs.  Many forms of flu and virus have the ability to exchange genes with one another.  The form of flu originating in Mexico is a mutation of viruses that have been seen in pigs, birds, and people.

How do people catch swine flu?
Though they are still studying this particular swine flu, an influenza virus is generally transmitted through the respiratory system.  Droplets of infected body fluids transmit flu when people cough or sneeze.

What are the symptoms of swine flu?
It usually takes one to four days between infection and the onset of symptoms.  Coughing, sneezing, headaches, body aches, fever, chills, and sometimes vomiting and diarrhea are accompanying symptoms.  It may be difficult to distinguish from other strains of flu and colds.  Severe cases of flu that lead to death are normally seen in very young and very old people whose immune systems are too weak to fight off the virus.  This particular virus appears to attack young adults as well with deadly results.

Why are health officials concerned about the swine flu?
The swine flu virus from Mexico appears to have the ability to spread quickly and be lethal according to the World health Organization.  When flu viruses mix their genes (mutate) with others they adapt to new environments and become harder for the immune system to defend against.  With little resistance from the immune system they can grow quickly and invade many tissues and organs which may set off a harmful immune system overreaction called a “cytokine storm,” that may be lethal in itself.

Researchers are investigating this virus right now to determine how easily the virus spreads in people and how dangerous it is.

What is a flu pandemic?
Influenza pandemics occur when new influenza viruses develop and spread quickly and few people have immunity to them.  Some pandemics are relatively mild, killing just a few million people globally.  The most severe flu pandemic on record was the 1918 Spanish Flu.  Researchers estimate it killed about 50 million people around the world.

Is there a vaccine against the swine flu from Mexico?
There is no vaccine currently that exactly matches this swine flu.  Flu vaccines generally contain a dead or weakened form of the circulating virus.  The vaccine prepares the body’s immune system to fend off true infections.  If the virus is sufficiently similar to circulating forms of flu that are included in the current vaccine they may offer some limited protection from swine flu.  Making a new flu vaccine can take three to six months.

Are there drugs that treat swine flu?
Tamiflu and Relenza, the two common antiviral drugs, have some effect against swine flu.  Flu viruses however sometimes develop resistance to antiviral drugs.  There is no evidence yet of the anti-viral drugs’ effectiveness with this particular swine flu strain.

How can I protect myself from swine flu?
Personal hygiene measures, such as avoiding people who are coughing or sneezing, and frequent hand-washing, may prevent flu infection.  Avoid contact with sick people.  People who get sick with flu symptoms should say home.  Closing schools, theaters, and canceling gatherings may be measures that public health officials use to limit its spread.

Stay well.  Take care.

H1n1 Swine Flu Vaccine Ingredients

June 26th, 2009

Why do the Swine Flu Vaccines Contain LIVE H1N1 VIRUS!?

It’s not a typo, the main ingredient in the GlaxoSmithKline and Novartis vaccines contain a LIVE VIRUS, an attenuated virus meaning it’s a weakened form of the swine flu virus.

Reference please? What I have seen looks like they will be killed vaccines. Of course, live virus must be used in the manufacturing process- it must be allowed to grow to make enough vaccine, but then the virus is inactivated (killed). There is a live seasonal flu vaccine called flumist (it is a liquid that goes in the nose). I have taken it before- it is thimerisol-free. But certain people can’t take it because it contains live virus (people with immune problems, for example). Both live and inactivated vaccines are in use today- MMR is an example of a live vaccine; most others are inactivated vaccines.

(living in China)… swine flu vaccination?

http://www.shanghaidaily.com/sp/article/2009/200912/20091221/article_423335.htm

China claimed to be the first to develop vaccination against swine flu…
and inoculate people…
yet the deaths have not stopped…
6th victim has been reported in Shanghai…
what would be the situation in interiors?…

is the swine flu vaccine developed by China not good?…
or are there other reasons?…

Your link does not work, however any new vaccinations take time to grow and stockpile. Even if they did create it would take several months if not a year to test it. Once tested it would would take months to stockpile as the vaccine would have to be grown in live eggs. All of this takes time and with Chinas large population would take a lot longer than normal.

Desiree Jennings Controversy? (the woman who’s life was ruined by a flu vaccination)?

The Desiree Jennings controversy?
In October 2009, media reported that 25-year-old American Desiree Jennings, A redskins cheerleader had developed a rare, debilitating neurological condition after a seasonal influenza vaccine injection. (H1N1) Reports indicated that Jennings’ symptoms were highly unusual. She could walk sideways or backwards, or jog, without any apparent difficulty but when attempting to walk forwards her limbs and body jerked uncontrollably and she could barely speak

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W_9SU6vM_…

What are your opinions on this? No rude or unnecessary comments. I truly do feel for this girl.

Careful there… There’s a lot of ruckus on this one. The Pro any-government-shot-is-safe-and-needed people are up in arms over this one. Apparently the Dr’s labeled her with what they ‘guessed’ it was but couldn’t say for sure, then Jennings went to a HUGELY qualified Dr that does not-so-mainstream practices at times. He quickly ‘cured’ her and now the pro-shotters have started saying it was all faked, using the Original GUESS symptoms and some of the new Dr’s medical testing/practice as reason to completely disbelieve everything Jennings has said. Biggest reason they believe it was faked? No Dr could “cure” their original disease ‘guess’ that fast! Same science reasoning as the bible. No one ELSE could have created the world, no one’s PROVEN it in their eyes, humans are here,, therefore an invisible, magical, all-mighty “man” must have done it!

I was an USAF officer during the 1st swine flu shot. That one killed, and maimed, and sickened MANY servicemen… I refused…as an officer, I was allowed.

I’ve got a machine that was just university-proven to KILL the H1N1. My asthmatic son got H1N1 from college and neither of us got it from him. Plus- it only lasted 1 1/2 days. Which is consistant with other sicknesses reported by people with these machines.

Guess what? My son ALSO started having seizures after welding inapropiate metals and drinking one swallow of water in Ecuador. Not sure which started it, or both, but I’m sending an email to her NEW Dr!

Something to worry about now that Jennings is cured, is how the WHO has changed “Pandemic” def to mean “ANY” worldwide bug, including the regular flu, which means they can ‘MANDATE’ shots in ANY member country.

The Importance of Urban Pigeon Control

The Importance of Urban Pigeon Control By Arlene Connelly

Many urban dwellers are unaware that more than 60 human diseases — including avian flu, salmonella, E coli and West Nile virus — are carried by pigeons, other pest birds and their droppings. Besides being a public health issue in many cities, they often create a safety hazard for pedestrians, and they carry dangerous parasites and harmful bacteria. Some of these illnesses can even be fatal to humans with compromised immune systems, they can be contracted through contact with the skin and exposure through inhalation as people go about their daily activities.

Why pest pigeons pose a threat

Pigeons are generally considered to be “the number one bird pest” in America today, their numbers are increasing, and their nesting instincts are strong. They usually mate for life, live in communal flocks that travel together, and tend to roost where they can find adequate food and shelter. Along with that, experts in the field now consider pigeons to be a genuine “urban menace,” threatening the quality of life in America’s great cities, including San Francisco, Chicago and New York.

Pigeon droppings can be found on walkways, roofs, window ledges and the sides of some of our finest buildings— anyplace these birds can access. This is especially dangerous around air vents and areas that surround water sources; the germs they carry can easily be transmitted to humans, especially those with a weakened immune system. They also attract insects that can spread disease as well, creating serious liability issues for businesses and restaurateurs.

The corrosive affect of pest pigeon droppings results in extensive and expensive damage to our public buildings and monuments, and they can contibute to a serious disasters like the collapse of the Minnesota Bridge. Feathers, droppings and nest materials can also be sucked into pipes and vents, creating a fire hazard in a city’s high-rise buildings where people work and live.

Bird-B-Gone can help solve this problem

Today, Bird-B-Gone sets the standard for urban pigeon control, their products are humane and easy to install, and they require little maintenance. If you live in an urban environment or are responsible for building maintenance in one of our country’s fine cities, you can choose from many options for complete pigeon control.

Sound deterrents are often used to deter pest pigeons, and since they will soon become used to hearing one repetitious sound, you will want to use a device that features the sounds of predators and birds in distress with variations, which is more effective.

Our Bird Chase Supersonic uses state-of-the art technology to provide easy volume adjustment, and it is also an inexpensive way to keep these birds away from your building. The system’s rigid construction makes it resistant to sun and weather, and you can easily adapt this device to your particular situation. It provides the distress calls of 22 types of birds and comes with an internal speaker; you can also connect four external speakers to the system to reduce the probability of damage to your building and increase your coverage area as well.

Visual bird deterrents are another good alternative

Visual deterrents are used to repel pest pigeons and other birds. For example, The BirdBGone Balloon is an “inflatable scare device” that confuses and deters pigeons with its lifelike predator markings and mysterious eyes they will avoid as they move on to a more appealing location.

The BirdBGoneDiverter has an iridescent foil eye to protect your building from pigeons during the day and a glow-in-the-dark back to keep them away after the sun goes down. You can also use flash tape, made from iridescent red foil, to create what bird control experts call “an optical distraction zone” to do drive pigeons away.

Some pigeon control devices make it difficult for pigeons to land Roost inhibitors, which are quite effective in keeping pest pigeons away from roofs, beams, ledges and various other surfaces, are probably the best-known methods of pigeon control, and they include bird spikes and bird netting. Bird spikes are available from Bird-B- Gone in two varieties and various colors and sizes to solve your pigeon control problem. Made from unbreakable polycarbonate, the plastic spikes are very strong and rigid, and the marine-grade stainless steel spikes are also available. The polyethylene knotted bird netting in Bird-B-Gone’s product line is a favorite with architects because of its durability in all kinds of weather conditions. It deters pest pigeons and all species of birds from landing, comes with a 10-year guarantee, and is very affordable in these budget-conscious times.

The bird repeller sweeps pigeons away with its 5 ft radius rotating arms. It a solar panel that powers the motor, and two AA rechargeable batteries for extended operation during dark periods. The bird repeller is ideal for use on rooftops, AC units and roof vents to keep pest pigeons away
