Cortisone Shot Flu
As a pregnant woman, can I request a flu shot without mercury?
I am getting a flu shot. I’m getting one because my doctors recommend it, and also because I have been sick about six times this year; the flu I got shortly before I became pregnant blossomed into a bad chest infection requiring antibiotics. It also aggravated my asthma so I had to take steroid/cortisone puffers. So I really don’t want to get sick.
Do i have the option of choosing a vaccine without mercury (thimerosal)? I know that vaccines don’t cause autism, but why would I put mercury in my pregnant body if I have the choice? (It can’t be GOOD for you…)
Thanks
P.S., I live in Canada if that makes a difference.
The doctor recommended I get the shot when I was first pregnant. He wanted to wait until I was further along to give it to me, though (I’m 25 weeks now.)
You can ALWAYS request a mercury-free one.
