Indeed one of the most treasured and important traditions of your wedding ceremony will be the toast that your invited guests give to your health and happiness as you begin life with your other half. Because of the significant part of this life landmark it is advisable to select some great wedding glass champagne flutes. This should be able to characterize your personalities, relationship together and the things you would want to keep in mind the rest of your life. You could select glass champagne glasses that depict your ornamental prowess which will really make an impression on your guests when seen at the head table. These days you can buy these great items very easily online at reduced prices. Let’s take a look at some of these.

First there is the open loop heart flutes. These glass champagne flutes are delicate in their plainness of the iced glass top and the silver trunk of the flute. In fact each flute can be adapted with the initials of the couple to make them even more unforgettable and emblematic of your relationship. In the area between the stem and the glass is a silver heart flourish that adds an aroma of romance and enthusiasm to the flutes. It serves to give you a deeper connotation of the toast and drinking of the champagne.

The crystal ring flutes are a really striking and complex range of glass champagne flutes. It gives a unique difference to the clear glass at the top with a shining glass stem. In between the stem and the glass is a ring of rhinestone crystals that add an extra class of exquisiteness and attractive flexibility. They can even be given as gifts to the parents of the bride and groom or from the guests to the couple. It would serve to initiate the bonding familiarity between the family, friends and loved ones.

The last of these is the diamond ring flutes. These are composed of purely crystalline glass in order to capture the light and give off a glowing sparkle. They can also be customized with the couples names and date of the wedding. The middle area of the glass and the stem is marked with a diamond engagement ring shape.

Give new levels of meaning to your good luck toast and also delight your guests by using some of these decorative glass flutes.

7 Signs you May Have a (hic) Holiday Rinking Roblem

Your nose and eyes match the color of Santa’s hat.

You decide to invent a new drink at a holiday party and name it after yourself by mixing all the rum, vodka, whiskey, scotch and gin with ice cream and putting in an actual umbrella. You cannot understand why no one sees the brilliance of your humor.

In order to get into the holiday spirit you sing every Christmas carol you know – into the microphone at Burger King at 2 a.m. and get booed.

You go shopping for a Christmas tree and hug each tree saying “I loooove you, man.”

You make YouTube’s all time hit list by sending in a video of yourself dressed in a Santa suit, drunk, shirtless and trying to eat a burger off the floor.

In a moment of alcohol-induced guilt you try to make up for not being a better mother by breastfeeding your 12- year- old.

At the mall you sit on Santa’s lap and soil his nice, new, red suit and the little kiddies chase you out of the department store.

During grace at Grandpa’s house you accidentally let one rip and try to blame the dog, grandpa’s dog that died two months ago.

You decide to go sleep it off on the couch. In the morning you awake on someone else’s couch – on the wrong side of town.

At the boss’s home Christmas party you decide to give the boss’s elderly mother a lap dance.

At the boss’s home Christmas party you think it would be funny to photocopy your naked butt and clip it to the front of the fridge.

You decide to phone Alec Baldwin’s daughter to tell her she’s a rude, thoughtless, little pig but you end up pressing the speed-dial button to your daughter who’s home with the flu.

Gill Fluke Medication

November 29th, 2008

Fish Disease?

Alrighty, I’m fairly sure my fish either have “Velvet” or some form of “Fluke” either body or gill. I’ve used API’s general parasite cure, but the fish still keep scratching themselves on everything inside their tank as well as breathing hard. They aren’t acting lethargic and eat just as well as any other fish.

Any ideas on a disease if perhaps I’m wrong with my diagnoses and any medication recommendations? I’ve got some Jungle Lab Internal Parasite Fish Food I’m about to try, but I’d like some incite before i do.

Do you see a gold tinged powdery substance on the fish? That would be velvet.

RidIch+ is a really good med for parasites(not just ich). If you’re thinking fungus try a combination of Maracyn and Maracyn II.

A medicated food may not help if whatever is bothering them is on the skin.

Accidentally Got 2 Flu Shots

November 29th, 2008

accidentally got 2 flu shots

Are You Prepared For Your Client’s Problems?

Tragedy has struck my household!  My beautiful wife of 3 years has come down with chicken pox!  Apparently, she never had it as a kid and so, never developed immunity.

I have twice.  I had a very mild case of the pox when I was a baby.  I think I had six little red bumps.  Then again when I was 9.  This time was nasty.  I was out for a couple weeks.  Got to watch a lot of good old black and whites on late-night television!

What’s cool is that I can take care of my wife while she’s sick.  While her sister runs for cover, I can confidently sit by her side.  I don’t need to worry about getting sick.  I have immunity.

If you’ve never learned about immunity, it’s a fascinating body function.  When a virus arrives inside you, your body goes on alert.  It immediately tries to fight off the substance (in this case chicken pox virus).  But unless you have immunity, your white blood cells don’t have the “code” for the anti-virus.

So, they go to work, trying to find how to best kill this evil invader.  They swarm the virus, attack it with enzymes and amino acids, trying to break down the tough outer shell.  If you have a weak immune system, your white blood cells may not be able to fight it off.  And the virus takes over.

With a strong immune system, your white bloods cells find the “code” and quickly replicate it.  These are called anti-bodies.  And they are specifically made to kill chicken pox.  Your body produces millions of these cells and deploys them through your blood stream.

When they find chicken pox, they eat it.  Ravaging the disease that tried to ravage you.

A lot of people think that vaccinations have some magic formula that battles diseases.  Without that sacred juice in your body, you’ll be subject to the ravages of viruses.

But really, a vaccine is usually a “dead” version of the virus.  When put into your body, it kicks off the same natural response.  Your body creates anti-bodies to fight off the disease.  So, the next time, when chicken pox comes calling, your body wipes it out immediately.

And each vaccine only helps your body find the “code” for that one virus.  That’s why flu vaccines are worthless and cold vaccines don’t exist.  There are too many strains to vaccinate against all of them.  Every time you have a cold, it’s a different virus!

In business, most people are completely unprepared for catastrophe.  When a “disease” invades your business, are you ready for it?  More importantly, how about your clients?  When their life is invaded with problems and challenges, are you ready to help fight?  That’s your job as a business owner!

You are a doctor.  Your clients and prospects have problems, challenges, viruses in their lives.  They are looking for solutions, help, cures to fight off the nasty.  You need to be absolutely prepared to help.  Or your competitor will.

The days of cheap, fast selling are winding down.  People are more cautious and solution-oriented.  It’s become so easy to find products—there are too many.  What people need is the right product.  One that provides the best solution—the right cure.

If you want to continually be successful in sales and business, you need to:

A. Develop your own immunity. Build your business immunity by reading books, learning from experts, practicing your skills, trying new techniques, and planning.  You won’t be able to help your clients and prospects solve their problems if you can’t even take care of your own business.  You need to become adept at solving problems, facing mountains, and creating systems.

B. Learn how to help others develop immunity. Most people you prospect are not able to find solutions to their problems on their own.  You need to learn how to stimulate others to solve problems, or at least to develop their true needs.  Ask the right questions, use stories, learn to observe trends, take notes, and spend time thinking and reflecting.

C. Position your product or service as a “cure” for your prospect’s problems. Most people sell the vaccine.  You need to sell the cure.  Nobody wants to take a shot.  They want to be protected from disease.  Ask yourself, how does your product solve a problem, create pleasure and satisfaction, or make life easier for your clients?  Use these reasons in your main sales pitch.  You’ll be shocked at the difference in response.

D. Be intentional. When chicken pox invaded my wife’s body, her immune system immediately kicked into high gear.  It didn’t sit around waiting for the right timing or outside help.  It got to work. Instantly, it began planning, experimenting, working, fighting.  It has specific, set proven methods to formulate anti-bodies.  It doesn’t accidentally come across a cure.  How are you intentionally moving your business forward?  What specific steps do you need to take today to overcome your biggest business disease?

Disease is not something to be feared.  The process of being invaded, creating anti-bodies, and battling viruses is what makes us healthy.  More robust immune systems mean longer, healthy lives.  The same is in your business.

The better you are at fighting disease in your business, the greater your profits.  The bigger the battles you must face, the greater your profits.

Children’s Tylenol Flu Dosage

Popping Pills May Slow Down In Texas: Industries Report Most Vitamins Are Manufactured In China

The next time you reach for a vitamin C tablet, you may want to rethink it. According to recent industry reports, 90% of all vitamin C sold in the U.S. is manufactured in China. China also produces half of all aspirin, 70% of penicillin, 35% of acetaminophen (most commonly known as Tylenol), and the majority of vitamins A, C, E, and B-12.

This isn’t to say that all goods, or even all vitamins for that matter, made in China are inferior or unsafe, but in light of past toothpaste and food contamination scandals, and particularly considering the recent wheat gluten scare — in which thousands of beloved pets were sickened or died due to contaminated wheat gluten imported from China — an intensive investigation into the matter may be worthwhile. While residents of Texas and the rest of the U.S. can take for granted that their processing facilities are, more or less, properly inspected, and that, by the time the food product hits the open market in Austin, Dallas, Houston, anywhere else in Texas (or any other part of the country) it’s relatively safe, we cannot necessarily assume that about foreign facilities. No one finds this reassuring — from health insurance companies, to the average Joe just trying to get over the flu.

The consistent application and enforcement of safety regulations in Chinese manufacturing facilities is the main concern. While some food and vitamin processing plants in China are “highly skilled and do all the right things…(some) are just sloppy bucket shops,” warns Peter Kovacs, a food industry consultant based in Incline Village, Nevada.

Scandals don’t help the situation, either. Phony Chinese anti-malaria medication being exported to Southeast Asia is not unheard of, nor is the distribution of fake drugs to treat impotence. Similar incidences have been reported in the exportation of powerful Chinese herbs, such as Ma Huang. When used properly, Ma Huang is an effective treatment for asthma, but as it is more or less natural ephedra, its dosage must be carefully regulated by professionals — not used haphazardly as a weight loss aide and put on every supermarket shelf. Worse, former chief of the Chinese Food and Drug Administration, Zheng Xiaoyu, was recently sentenced to death after being convicted of accepting bribes equivalent to nearly $1,000,000 in exchange for allowing the release of unsafe drugs.

Chinese inspectors often experience conflicts of interest, which could be a major contributing factor, as in the case of Weisheng Pharmaceutical Company. Weisheng is the largest producer of vitamin C in the world, manufacturing 30,000 tons a year. Wiith such a huge facility, any average American would expect a proper regimen of inspections and reporting to occur. But inspectors assigned to the plant are, in fact, workers employed by a city that is part-owner of Weisheng’s parent company. For such an inspector to return a bad report on Weisheng could be trouble, indeed.

And, while American industry workers report that, from all appearances, the Weisheng facility appears to be clean and well-maintained, the conflict of interest in enforcing any kind of regulation is apparent.

We could take a page from the Boston Tea Party, dump the vitamins and drugs overboard, and simply refuse to buy anymore…except that Americans have no way of knowing our products’ place of origin. Current labeling laws don’t require companies to disclose the country from which they received their ingredients, let alone from which company. While all this may explain the amazingly, suspiciously cheap prices of certain vitamins in recent years, it doesn’t do much to reassure one that our products — products we believe will enhance our health — are even safe. How could we, when we have no way of knowing whether our drugs and vitamins came from the “sloppy bucket shops,” or the clean, maintained facilities? Personally, I’d rather not take the penicillin if I’m not sure whether or not it has mold on it — or worse.

Solutions? Few at the moment, unfortunately. Eat well, for one. The better you keep up on your diet, the fewer vitamins you’ll need and, considering recent reports that the nutrient value of our crops is going down, you may want to buy organic. Few Western doctors prescribe penicillin anymore as a first choice, so that’s good news, and natural analgesics are available for minor pain, like headaches and sore muscles.

In short: take care of yourself, and there will be less need for drugs or vitamins of any kind. Write Congress and the Food and Drug Administration, and let them know this situation is unacceptable. Especially for those with children, or who have chronic conditions, this is particularly disconcerting. In other words, in the face of foreign exploitation, take the great traditions of America and start applying them. Stop buying products you’re unsure of, at least as much as possible, and start using the democratic process to protest. So many policies become objectionable simply because we don’t, well, object.

What supplements you take, and how you eat, affects your health. How you take care of yourself will certainly affect you as you age, and eventually your wallet, as well.

Seasonal Flu Shots Available

seasonal flu shots available

I got my first seasonal flu shot two weeks ago. How long should I wait to get the H1N1 shot?

I’m 37 and healthy. I’ve had the regular flu shot and want the swine flu shot when it’s available. But I think I heard somewhere that if you’ve only had one seasonal flu shot, you should wait a couple of months before you get the swine flu shot, just to make sure you don’t have any symptoms or complications from flu vaccination in general. Medical professionals, is this accurate? And if it is, how long should I wait? Many thanks.

Call your doctor.

T5 Fluorescent Bulb Life

Reef Aquarium Maintenance - Lighting

Many reef aquarium enthusiasts are well aware and keep a rigorous schedule of doing weekly and even daily maintenance on their reef aquariums to keep the water quality in check. From daily dosing of calcium and ph stabilizer to keep the alkalinity, ph and calcium levels at a level for optimum coral growth, to weekly water changes to keep nitrates and nitrites in check and add trace elements.

We all know about keeping the mechanical filters cleaned to keep from depleting oxygen levels. But may people forget about the importance of maintaining the lighting on their reef aquariums. It is not something that is noticed by the human eye because the change in intensity and color happens at such a gradual pace. The gradual deterioration of the lighting can be evident in several ways in the reef aquarium. There seems to be something wrong. The corals are not opening fully like they used to and some may even start to regress. There is suddenly growth of unwanted algae with seemingly perfect water quality.

You would not think of waiting until ammonia and nitrates get out of hand to start doing water changes, so why wait until the lighting has deteriorated to change the bulbs. Many aquarium light fixtures have a glass or plexiglass cover that over time will build up a fine coating of dust reducing the amount of light reaching the corals. This cover should be cleaned on a monthly basis.

The manufacturers for metal halides recommend changing the bulbs every six months. Fluorescent bulbs such as VHO, power compacts, actinic, and T5s recommend replacement at 8 - 12 months. Many studies have concluded that metal halide bulbs can loose up to 50 percent of their original intensity and color temperature with in 1 year. In other words, a 14,000K HQI bulb after a year could have a color temperature of 7,000K.

This would explain the algae growth since plants tend to utilize more of the red spectrum, while the zooxanthellae found in the coral tissues thrive more on the blue part of the spectrum. In simple terms, the higher the color temperature, the higher the blue part of the spectrum is visible and the lower the color temperature, the higher the red part of the spectrum is visible. To simulate the lighting for the reef aquarium we need to understand the light that occurs naturally on the reef with sunlight. The ocean has a blue color because it is the blue part of the spectrum that penetrates the water the deepest and the red and yellow are filtered out.

Color Shift and Variation

New metal halide bulbs need to have the arc tube chemicals “burn-in” for approximately 100 hours before they reach their optimum color and light level. This is why new lamps can sometimes be unstable or vary in color. Many manufacturers “burn-in” their bulbs before they are sold. As the lamps age, chemical changes occur in the lamp causing shifts in the chromaticity of the lamps. Different lamp designs shift in different ways, and different lamps from the same group may shift in different amounts.

Generally, over the economic life lamps will shift 200K to 300K in color temperature. As a group of lamps ages together in a facility, the lamps will generally shift at the same rate causing very little color variation from lamp to lamp. However, if new replacement lamps are introduced into the group of lamps, color differences may be more noticeable, because the new lamps have not aged and shifted with the remainder of lamps. This is just one of the reasons why many users prefer to group relamp as opposed to spot relamping.

Although Fluorescent bulbs do not have a burn-in time and last longer they tend to build up a coating on the tube, reducing the intensity and color temperature.

PAR - Polysynthetic Available Radiation.

While PAR might be an unfamiliar term in comparison to the more often seen Lumens or Lux, it is by far the most appropriate way for us to assess light in connection with the reef tank since it measures the light intensity of the spectrum that is utilized by the corals. Lumens and Lux are measurements of how bright a light source appears to the human eye and as such has little relevance in the reef aquarium.

I believe that a PAR meter is an instrument that all serious reef aquarists should own. Buying one that has a submersible sensor allows you to measure the amount light that’s actually reaching your corals. This in turn gives you the information you need when positioning or repositioning your corals to ensure that all the various species are receiving light that’s optimum for their requirements. Swine Flu Scotland Latest

swine flu scotland latest

Should i be concerned about swine flu? can you die from it? do the anti virals cure the flu?

I am a healthy 13 year old girl and as of late have been tired my legs ached yesterday but not today my head hurts from time to time and now have a slight sore throat and i haven’t been in contact with anyone who i know of who has swine flu and do not live in the area of scotland with the 2 confirmed cases of it i keep on top of hygiene purposes and am trying to keep on top of my vitamin intake but i want to know what i should do whether its likely i have it if its not serious and you notice it straight away and get treated will you die? and do the antivirals kill the swine flu? please help

You shouldn’t be obsessing over the swine flu. People make it up to be way worse than it actually is. You should only be worried if your a young infant, an elderly person, or if you just have a weak immune system. And from the symptoms that you listed, I don’t think you have the swine flu.
