Why does my toddler still vomiting?

My son’s doctor ruled that he has the stomach flu, and it should take 3-10 days. No medication necessary because its viral, and we just need to wait till it passes it cycle. Its been over 2 weeks and he is still vomiting. For the past 2 nights he has been waking up every hour or so crying with a fever ranging from 100-103. I called the doctor, and she said to give him baby tylenol or motrin to help lower the fever and keep him hydrated and wait till the flu passes. OMG its been over 2 weeks, am I impatient or too worried? Or should I get a new doctor because my son is still sick, still throwing up, and still not normal. What should I do?

Well, it depends on the age of your toddler but for certain ages, a fever like that is suggested to go to the hospital. Plus, if he has been throwing up for two weeks straight then I would definitely go get him checked out by another doctor because it could be more than the stomach flu. It is possible it is the flu, but second opinions are always good especially since you have talked to this doctor more than once already. Also, I had the flu in August and October and from throwing up so much and being so weak from being sick, i lost about 10 pounds. If your toddler has been throwing up for two weeks straight, then he is definitely losing weight and may be dehydrated. Me being a teenager, I had a few extra pounds that were okay to lose but if your toddler is the normal weight for his age, losing any weight is dangerous as he is so small.

I’m soooo sorry about your reactions for Avonex!! I was on Avonex for about 4 years. I too had the same symptoms, and evolved into a process that allowed me to “manage” the symptoms. I took tylenol - super strength, and 3 of them - an hour before the shot. I then took the shot just before bedtime, after a hot shower/bath. Then, set the alarm to take the tylenol every 4 hours!!

It helped lesson the side-effects!

As to your capaxone question: I haven’t personally taken it, but the research I’ve done on the different “ABC meds” for MS that I’ve done shows the following:

1) all folks who take an ABC shot have some kind of reaction; a process like that I’ve described is the best way to decrease the impact of the side effects.

2) there doesn’t appear to be a better way to determine which of the ABC drugs is “optimum” for treatment for each person other than by trial and error, ’cause each person’s reaction is different - kinda like each person’s experience with MS is different!!!

I stopped taking Avonex based on dr recommendation, because I’ve had MS for over 45 years, and am in what is called the “secondary progressive” stage, and there are not meds for this stage. The ABC drugs are targeted for those with the R/R (Relaxing/Remitting) stage of MS.

Soldering 101

Soldering is the most common technique for joining two or more metals together.  In the soldering process, two elements are used: heat and solder. A solder is a metal alloy that has a lower melting point than the metals do that are to be joined together.  When the heat from a soldering torch comes into contact with the solder and metals, the solder will melt before the metals do, causing the melted solder to flow and connect the separate pieces together.

Solders are categorized into hard, medium, and easy (soft).  The categories indicate their melting points.  For example, soft solders have lower melting points than medium and hard solders.  It is the hard solders that are typically used in jewelry making or for precious metals.  If a piece needs to be soldered more than once, start with a hard solder, and then move to a medium (or a medium and move to a soft).  This way the first solder will not remelt.
