Shut Up About The Swine Flu!?

The swine flu is no deadlier than any other strain of flu out there. According to the CDC annually 36,000 people die from Flu related causes. The equates to 3,000 people per month. Why isn’t everyone up in arms about that? Why don’t you go around wearing exterminator masks so you won’t catch the regular flu which is just as likely to kill you or your baby? I have never received a flu shot nor contracted the flu, riddle me that. I think the damn swine flu pandemic, just like the bird flu previous to it is just inacted to scare the damn population into putting money into drug companies for flu vaccines which actually put the flu strain in your system and causes you to catch the flu and buy medication. It’s all a ploy and you all are pawns in the game. Got you and your kids walking around looking like Michael Jackson. I’m not falling for this one. I’d rather walk around with a mask in NYC so I can protect my lungs from the nasty air…. That’s my rant for the day

It is slightly deadlier because humans have no immunity to it as it is a new strain - this is why there people have died where otherwise they wouldn’t have. Yes people do die of regular flu but they are likely to be from vulnerable populations (elderly etc). This flu does kill healthy people - if you get it you may well get better but there is also a possibility you may die. You are correct about the panic though - the media are souping everyone up into a frenzy - but the media control gullible peoples views on almost everything so this is no exception. Amongst the media circus however - there is a serious risk that does threaten us. To sum up - I agree too much media hype on something that may turn out to be not very much at all BUT there is a possibility that it could turn out quite serious - this is why people are talking about it and I don’t think they will shut up for some time yet.

Peter Gabriel Tickets - Peter Gabriel Debuts New Album In The U.k. With U.s. Shows To Follow

Former Genesis frontman Peter Gabriel debuted songs from his recently-released album Scratch My Back with a pair of shows across the pond at London’s O2 Arena on March 27 and 28, reported Spinner. Scratch My Back is comprised of “reinterpreted” covers from artists like Neil Young, Radiohead and others. Gabriel’s first studio album in eight years, the effort features composition help from Durutti Column’s John Metcalfe.

During his first set at the O2 Arena, Gabriel performed Scratch My Back in order, starting with David Bowie’s “Heroes” before continuing on to Paul Simon’s “The Boy in the Bubble,” Elbow’s “Mirrorball,” Bon Iver’s “Flume,” Talking Heads’ “Listening Wind,” Lou Reed’s “The Power of the Heart,” Arcade Fire’s “My Body is a Cage,” Magnetic Fields’ “The Book of Love,” Randy Newman’s “I Think It’s Going to Rain Today,” Regina Spektor’s “Apres Moi,” Neil Young’s “Philadelphia” and Radiohead’s “Street Spirit.”

Gabriel’s second set featured songs from his back catalog, such as “San Jacinto,” “Digging up the Dirt,” “Mercy Street” and “Don’t Give Up.” Gabriel was without a traditional band of guitar, bass and drums, choosing to employ an orchestra instead. Spinner reported that while Gabriel encountered some initial grumbling from fans, the show’s massive visual displays proved worthy of the venue. On his official website, Gabriel’s current road trip is called the New Blood Tour and is described as “Peter Gabriel, orchestra, no drums, no guitars.”

Peter Gabriel will return to North America for a pair of performances at the Bell Centre in Montreal on April 28 and 29, after which point he will play two dates at New York City’s Radio City Music Hall on May 2 and 3. Gabriel’s mini road trip will wrap up at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles on May 7, so head to StubHub.com for Peter Gabriel tickets to see him live.

Although his tour prevented him from attending the ceremony, Gabriel’s former band Genesis was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame during the Rock Hall’s 25th induction ceremony on March 15. The newest class of inductees also included the Stooges, Swedish pop band ABBA, reggae great Jimmy Cliff and the Hollies, reported the New York Times. Phish performed Genesis’ “Watch of the Skies” and then Phish frontman Trey Anastasio introduced the progressive-rock kings, praising Genesis for being “rebellious, restless and constantly striving for something more than the obvious.”

Phil Collins, who was initially Genesis’ drummer before filling in as lead singer when Gabriel exited the group, told the audience at New York’s Waldorf Astoria, “This band has been in so many different guises.” As for Gabriel’s absence, Genesis’ bassist Mike Rutherford told reporters, “He has a very genuine, legitimate excuse. He’s starting a tour in Europe soon.”

The flip side of Gabriel’s Scratch My Back, aptly titled I’ll Scratch Yours, will feature each artist covered on Scratch My Back covering a Gabriel song on the companion album. Gabriel announced the tandem releases at the same time but The Guardian reported that the album has not yet materialized. Gabriel recently told the New York Times, “We may not get everybody, but I hope we will.” Paul Simon’s version of “Biko” and the Magnetic Fields’ rendition of “Not One of Us” are currently available.

Swine Flu Sinus Infection

July 28th, 2006

swine flu sinus infection

After the swine flu contagious how long?

My younger cousin was ill with swine flu this week, his symptoms began on Monday and Tuesday, but was diagnosed only by telephone Wednesday. Since then, almost recovered from the cough. NHS Direct said the people contagious / infectious up to 5 days after his first symptoms, so it has been six days now. She wants to come and see me today with his mom, but she is worried i cover it up, so my mom just said just keep your distance and obviously going to cough in your hand / tissue and wash your hands. His father would not have caught it. But I'm a little sick with a sinus infection and do not want to get more ill. So take it will probably be a little bit contagious, but not right now? And since she is better and has been in recent days that mean it is unlikely to give someone? Xo.

Okay back to work or school 48 hours after the last symptom experience. You should be fine after 7-10 days. In general, once symptoms are no longer infectious.

Exploring The World Of Non-Formal Sound Therapy

The various options associated with sound therapy come courtesy of the many different kinds of sound that exist in the world. To explore some of the best options, I have listed a few below:

DVDs, CDs, and Tapes for Stress Reduction

One of the most well known categories of sound therapy includes audio products that contain refreshing sounds. This approach may come in the form of music; exploring natural wonder; chanting; words spoken softly; or primitive sounds, such as the echoes of the outside world that a fetus encounters while in the womb. All of these sounds possess the power to send you into a dreamlike state of mind. To get the most out of this process - I suggest lying down or sitting still while listening. However, some people still experience great results when doing various activities at the same time.

When looking for the best in stress reduction CDs and audiocassettes - I recommend seeking out the resources offered through the Center for Neuroacoustic Research (also known as CNR). Since 1980, Jeffrey D. Thompson, the founder of CNR has accumulated extensive research pertaining to sound and healing. As a respected expert throughout many international circles - his studies in the field of neuroacoustic healing has led to the creation of more than 60 CDs and audiotapes centered on acoustic pacing, which is responsible for blending the frequencies of musical sound tracks.

It is his acoustic pacing recordings that can assist the mind and body in discovering a realm of deep relaxation. Stress levels decrease. Overall healing takes place. Pain becomes easier to control. Greater levels of meditation states are reached. Some people are even able to achieve a better night’s sleep. All of this comes as a result of using modulated sound pulses to alter the levels of consciousness in a person, which opens up doors for one to accomplish a higher level of healing.

Music

How many times have you felt more relaxed after listening to your favorite music CD? The sounds of something familiar are great for bringing a sense of calm into your life. I also suggest looking into New Age music.

Vibration Therapy

Comparable to acupressure, a chiropractor or therapist often delivers this dose of therapy, which uses a thick, metal tool (shaped like a rather narrow horseshoe) to create sound and vibration. Wherever it is tapped on the body, an advantageous stream of vibration rejuvenates the surrounding region. Sound vibration is becoming an increasingly popular method of establishing a healthy level within body tissue to promote relaxation.

Tibetan Singing Bowls

Used in meditation circles, singing bowls are a musical instrument associated with the Buddhist culture. You may also see these bowls referred to as a Himalayan bowl or cup gong. When gently hit or rubbed slowly - the metal insides or top surface of the bowl makes a sound that can reduce stress and lessen anxiety. Sometimes, a small mallet of wood is used to produce this harmonious sound. Just keep in mind - this technique is considered quite hard to get the hang of.

Chanting

The constant spoken or sung word or sounds that creates a soothing rhythm is called chanting. Even during ancient times, people found a use for this method while on the battlefield or when participating in religious worship. A few examples of this sound therapy include some Native American traditions, the infamous Gregorian chant, and mantras.

Drumming

Another ancient practice to consider is drumming - often associated with Native American tribes, who created vibrations that easily sent bystanders into a trance-like state of consciousness. However, individuals were still completely aware of their surroundings. Most times, it was the drummer that received the more intense results.

Normally, handmade Native American drums covered with animal skins are used. Luckily, drums come in a multitude of shapes, sizes, and styles - where the palm of your hand or even a soft mallet can achieve the sound you desire.

An increasing popularity regarding drumming circles (with the occasional use of Native American flutes) has been seen about the U.S. The level of energy produced by two or more drummers can create a swelling healing force filled with power. Drumming, especially in a circle can lead to beneficial healing that really reduces stress levels.

Sound Equipment

Don’t worry - this isn’t the kind of equipment a music band relies on - I’m referring to the various types of tools that can create a refreshing sound within the comforts of your own home. This may include a tabletop waterfall or a bubbly fishtank. Some people take pleasure in the soothing sounds of tranquility chimes - consisting of tiny beads that continuously drop to produce a relaxing response.

Overall, no matter what sound therapy approach you select, a regular routine is needed in order to truly eliminate stress. Over time, daily therapy is no longer necessary and you can slowly decrease your schedule to once a week.

Flu Remedy Report

flu remedy report

Cold and Flu Prevention Part I - With Foods

In the previous Article, we learned that cold and flu are the most commonly occurring illnesses in the entire world, with more than 1 billion colds per year reported in the United States alone. The common cold is a self-limiting illness caused by any 1 of more than 200 viruses. Influenza is no minor illness. If you are senior or have a serious heart and lung disease, you are at the greatest risk for coming down with a dangerous case of flu because your immune system might not be strong enough to fend off the infection.

Here are some foods that can be eaten regularly so you can strengthen up your immune system and kill the bugs before they can attack.

1. Chicken soup
No one knows how, but it works. It was nothing compared to the improvement after intake of chicken soup, our body might need to negate the effects of steam from hot water and hot chicken soup. If you look closer to any chicken soup recipe, you can see there are a lot of garlic, onions, peppers, etc which are natural remedies helping to improve immune system.

2. Contessa
Mix regular tea with 1 teaspoon of honey, congac, butter each and 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon and drink them while it is hot before bed time. You will see the difference when you wake up in the morning.

3. Honey and apple cider vinegar
Mix 1/4 cup of apple cider vinegar and an equal amount of honey. It is particularly effective for a cold with a sore throat.

4. Tea, cinnamon, sage and bay leaves
Prepare tea by steeping equal parts of cinnamon, sage, and bay leaves in hot water. Strain and before drinking the tea add 1 teaspoon of lemon juice and honey.

5. Sunflower seeds
Boil 1/2 cup of sunflower seeds in 5 cups of water until there is about 2 cups of water left in the pot. Then add 2 cups of honey and 1/2 cup of gin. Take 2 teaspoons three times a day just before mealtime.

6. Drink a lot of non dairy liquid, so you can keep flushing out your system.

I hope this information will help, if you need to read more of the above article please visit my home page.

Otc Fluoride

Teeth Whitening At Home Vs. Visiting A Dentist

Even just a few years back teeth whitening was done in a professional dental clinic by expert dentists. Now, availability of at home service for whitening and OTC whitening products has made this process easy and more accessible. Many people who were apprehensive about visiting the clinic for any reason are now comfortable in using whitening applications at home in form of as strip, paint-on, or tray kits.

In some of the countries all systems involved in the tooth whitening process are considered cosmetics, unless the main constituent is fluoride. The manufacturer is required to submit a notification that produces adequate and correct information about safety and labeling to the Health Department for review.

Most of the Heath Department do not approve notification but scrutinize the information to ensure that all requirements have been met. The safety of the product is a manufacturer’s responsibility and the finally onus is on the manufacturer.

The OTC teeth whitening kits are quite similar to those that a dental professional applies on your teeth, the only difference lies in the concentration of the active ingredients used. The concentration of ingredients applied is much higher when you visit a professional dentist for whitening your teeth.

Use and application of higher concentrations are permitted only when these are used and applied by specialists who have a better understanding about the control and use of such ingredients and are responsible for monitoring the post-application effects.

Since home based products are not supervised by professional the concentration level is kept low to ensure safety. However a professional can also prescribe his/ her patient to use take-home applications. But in such a case he directly monitors his /her patients after application and can take up required actions in case of any adverse reaction from the products.

Recent clinical studies show that home tooth whitening products are not damaging if these are used properly following the instructions. The studies that have been conducted so far do not indicate detrimental effects of teeth whiteners on teeth structure and enamel.

However, instructions should be followed religiously and any contraindications if mentioned in the label should be kept in mind. These precautionary statements often ignored or missed out leads to complications. Any teeth whitening product should not be used for more than 14 days without a proper dental custody. Your dentist is the best guide to help you whiten your teeth properly only after a thorough review of your teeth structure.

h1n1 flu maps

I notice that many of the countries having H1N1 flu symptoms border oceans. Is this just coincidence?

Looking at the map, I notice that the most infections are around coastlines. Why is this?

Many landlocked countries(not bordering oceans) truly aren’t as economically developed as others. Which wouldn’t have as many tourists going to mexico. I would say this would have some significance as to why they haven’t received the flu yet.

Stomach Flu Orange County

July 25th, 2006

Stomach cramps … concern?

So after he ate two eggs, bacon, some vegetables, jelly, chicken and all around 3-5 because I had no lunch, so I had the dinner and lunch together. Then, like five minutes later, I had a very bad stomach cramps for about thirty minutes and had diarrhea. I never felt like before: (and now my brother is being an idiot and I have the flu. BTW I live in Orange County so now I'm worrying, I have no fever or anything, but I have occasional cough since I was young. Help? : (Oh just in case .. cooked bacon from Costco that only needs to be microwaved:) thanks sooo much for Response, b / c that is me making you feel better:)

Definitely sounds like a food-borne illness. I e. Deli Lettuce coli before and had diarrhea and stomach cramps, similar what you are feeling right now. I'm not a doctor or anything, though, so maybe they ask, could help. Think back to see if a food is cooked in its entirety. It could be salmonella in eggs, bacon from H1N1, or E. coli from vegetables. Now that I think is really scary that this can exist in our diet.
